 Sunlight, Dipton woods
Iain has spent much of his adult life in Northumberland and the west of Scotland. He has been interested in photography since childhood
but took it up seriously about twenty years ago, turning professional in 1996. The theme of colour and texture in the landscape and the exploration of its detail has always been important to him.
'To me, Nature reveals a perfect harmonisation of shape, colour and texture. The closer you get, the more complex and awe inspiring it becomes. Looking at the small, you become aware of the inner dimension of things. Somehow it's as if this magnified hidden world echoes and resonates in the grandeur of the more familiar landscape images we see around us. The infinite is out there, in the wide open places, but also drawing us into the tiniest worlds opening up at our feet. We need patience and familiarity with the places we photograph . I strongly believe that if you respect a place it will show you its secrets.'
