Pebbles Youth Project was set up in 2006
by Amanda Galbraith.
Winner of the Scarmen Trust Award 2007
We have a real commitment to the young artists and business community of the future and we set up the Pebbles Youth Project which began by running free monthly workshops. We have a dedicated youth gallery and are able to provide a safe selling environment in which many of our young artists have enjoyed selling their work and in which they are given feedback about their work. We offer funding advice for future projects and a strong support network.
By 2009 we now offer activities suitable for students from Year 4 to 25 years old. We have 6 schemes to choose from that run structured workshops designed to feed into a network of applicants, direct to schools and the community.
The Pebbles Youth Project demonstrates that it fits in with regional and national strategies and targets.
Projects:
1. MYLOOP – Multimedia, sound TEC, drum tutoring, film, web design and producing CD demos.
2. “Come Out Of Your Shell” – art and craft workshops, working with schools
3. Make It And Sell It In Allendale – a dedicated youth gallery to showcase and sell work.
4. Education, Fragile Learning – students who attend school are also tutored and do their GCSE exams at Pebbles, we offer space and free WI-FI.
5. Work Experience/start your own business – working in the café and gallery/bookkeeping/customer care/health and safety/ health and hygiene.
