Allendale is a market town in south Northumberland, nestled in the high Pennines, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is approximately 14 kilometres (9 miles) south west of Hexham.

Throughout the Allen Valleys there are traces of the lead mining past, hay meadows, local farms surrounded by age old grey stone walls, overlooked by moorland alive with rare wildlife.
